Myanmar Business Coalition on AIDS

Myanmar Business Coalition on AIDS (“MBCA”) was established in the Union of Myanmar by a group of concerned international and national business people who desired to provide leadership in a selected humanitarian program within their own community: HIV/AIDS.

Since its foundation in 2002, MBCA has demonstrated both the desire and commitment to successfully fight HIV/AIDS in its own backyard - the business and workplace in Myanmar. MBCA is a non-profit organization.

MBCA’s main objectives are to:
  • Create a sustainable not-for-profit organization in the country of Myanmar
  • Advocate non-discrimination in the workplace through Peer Education and workplace educational programs on the prevention of HIV/AIDS
  • Official registration of MBCA was completed in 2002 with guidance from the Thailand Business Coalition on AIDS and assistance from AusAids. Serge Pun & Associates (Myanmar) Ltd., has been a major supporter of MBCA since inception.

MBCA enjoys tax-exempt status granted by the Government of the Union of Myanmar.

As an officially recognized national NGO, at least 90% of the program funding MBCA receives is directed into the recipient program. Administrative and the majority of operational expenses are sourced from donations from international and national private enterprises in a sustainable manner.

MBCA is aligned with other national members of the Asia Business Coalition on AIDS. http://www.abconaids.org/MBCA has already provided assistance to other business coalitions in Asia on establishment and development of HIV/AIDS workplace training programmes.

The MBCA Chairperson, Mr. Martin Pun and Executive Director, Dr. Khin Aye Aye are regularly invited speaker at UN, INGO and other international conferences.
